Facebook, Network/Facilities Engineer (Contract)2015-2016

Ÿ         Responsible for integration of network and facilities infrastructure and operations at Facebook’s primary global data centers (Forest City, Altoona, Prineville and Lulea), including Cisco/Arista-based data center networks and BACnet/Modus facilities networks.

Ÿ         Provided technical support for an in-house initiative to troubleshoot random communications drops in the facilities network, between BACnet and Modbus devices and data acquisition systems. Utilized in-house custom data analytics tools and Wireshark packet capture to gather data and troubleshoot the problem.

Ÿ         Developed and delivered a training program for each site’s Facilities Operations staff, including overview of facilities network, alert resolution, and operational procedures.

 

Atos International, Senior Data Center Consultant2012-2015

Ÿ         Solution Director for winning pursuits which generated >$200M in revenue. Generated technical and financial elements for RFI/RFS/RFP responses and Statements of Work (SoW) for enterprise IT outsourcing services, including Data Center Transformation, Mergers & Consolidations, Application Workload Migration, Data Center Managed Services and IaaS/PaaS Cloud Services.

Ÿ         Project Manager for data center migration/consolidation projects. Primary point of contact with project sponsor and governance, network operations and application owner teams. Led teams of solution architects and migration specialists. Utilized PlateSpin Recon & HP DDM reports to analyze current environment, identify consolidation opportunities, plan migrations (P2V, V2V, forklift), and create move groups. Create and execute migration plans (t-minus schedules, acceptance testing, and rollbacks).

Ÿ         Lead Solution Architect on a successful data center consolidation business case for Time Warner Inc., with an objective of reducing IT costs by $250M over 5 years. Performed data center site surveys and technology assessments for each business unit (Corporate, HBO, Time, Turner, Warner Brothers), including operating costs, power, cooling and network infrastructure, and capacity evaluations. Created a data center facilities collapse strategy. Solution architect for requirements definition and architecture blueprint phases. Developed high level IaaS solution architecture, including server consolidation models and a 10-year forecast CapEx/OpEx cost model.

Ÿ         Data Center Infrastructure Consultant for Trader Joe’s VP/CIO, to develop a data center roadmap and strategy. Established and developed the C-Level relationship from a new logo with $35k initial contract to $1.4M in total sales. Delivered a current state data center facilities assessment, including power/cooling/space capacity usage, ability to accommodate expected future growth, operational risks, and annual electricity and preventive maintenance costs. Delivered a future state CapEx/OpEx cost model factoring in expected growth, and considering green field design/build, brown field refurbishment, REIT lease, and wholesale and retail co-location options.

Ÿ         Delivered state of the art Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) solutions for leading internet, financial, technology and co-location customers in the US, EMEA and APAC regions.

Ÿ         Won the CEO’s “Change the Game Challenge,” a company-wide open solicitation for “out of the box” ideas for product improvement and increased customer satisfaction of delivered solutions.

Ÿ         Data Center Manager: Responsible for daily operations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), methods of procedure (MOPs), and preventive maintenance for two 400kW mission-critical data centers for world’s third largest generic pharmaceutical manufacturer. Maintained 99.99% availability and 24x7 on-call support for infrastructure services. Implemented structured processes for move, add & change (MAC) using BMC Remedy ticketing and rack configuration management using Altima NetZoom.

Ÿ         Data Center Strategist: Formulated a next-generation data center facility strategy, including design/build and co-location options, high level requirements capture and capital & operating budget estimates, in alignment with corporate goals and spending guidelines.

Established and maintained a 100% on time delivery record over 24 months for 300+ site shipments, resulting in $12M of reliable program sales billing. Ÿ         Problem Solver: Overhauled and rescued an unproductive as-built document delivery effort from status of one year behind schedule. Created a process flow and obtained project leaders’ and contractors’ commitments to meet delivery schedule. Negotiated revised delivery schedule with contracting officer. Ÿ         Technical Lead: Deployed an enterprise network serving 8,000 end users in 150 buildings on 9 regional campuses. Integrated the primary global data center consisting of clustered Dell PowerEdge 1650/2650 servers, PowerVault 220S disk arrays and PowerVault 136T/132T tape libraries in a Windows 2000 Active Directory environment. Rolled out and qualified a 3-tier Cisco Gigabit Ethernet network with Catalyst 6509 core, 4006/3500 distribution and 2950 access switches and 7200/3600/2600 routers. Designed a Spanning Tree which reduced convergence time from 7-10 minutes to less than 2 minutes.

Ÿ         Implemented DWDM, SONET, ATM (AAL-1, -2 & -5), Frame Relay, IP/VPN, IMA, PNNI, OSPF, and Voice services at speeds from DS-0 to OC-48, for major carriers including Comcast, Cingular (AT&T) and Orange.

Ÿ         Lead test engineer for 100+ node ATM over SONET carrier network consisting of OPTera Metro 5200/3500, Passport 15000/7000/4400 and Quantum Bridge QB5000/QB100 Passive Optical Network (PON) systems.
